Captain Bob is an interesting character. Despite having been
raised in pools summer in and out and competing for
Northwestern University on the varsity swim team, Bob
had never been intrigued by the underwater world.
However, while working for Club Med teaching employees
First Aid and CPR throughout Mexico and the Caribbean, some
fun loving souls talked the Captain into giving scuba a try.
That’s where his scuba life began.

On his first open water dive, the Captain had a
close encounter with a rather large hammerhead!
Over the course of that summer, Bob became hooked on scuba and
continued with his Advanced Open Water certification.

Bob’s new dream became a reality as he earned PADI Scuba
Instructor rating and became certified by the United States
Coast Guard as a Merchant Marine 50 ton Master Captain
(rated for the Great Lakes, Inland Waters and costal sea waters).
He has converted his boat to a part time scuba charter boat while
he works on restoring a full time scuba boat.
His water adventures don’t end there though! Bob was invited
by the Shedd Aquarium to join its group of divers. The
Captain volunteers frequently and can often be found in the
Wild Reef Exhibit swimming with the groupers, eels and triggerfish.
The Captain’s other noteworthy roles include a background
in environmental engineering, a former certified Lifeguard and
Lifeguard Instructor, and Water Safety and Swimming Instructor
through the American Red Cross. And, of course, the Captain
is also a pilot J

The Captain landed on Catalina Island while attending school in
Malibu, CA and began his scuba career training. Ultimately, the
Captain moved to the island and obtained his Dive Master certification.
At the end of the season, Captain Bob followed his new friends to Maui, worked
on a dive boat for a year and befriended local sharks, whales, turtles, lobsters,
eels, well -
But a normal career awaited and the Captain ultimately
shipwrecked on the shores of Lake Michigan, taking shelter
on the north side of Chicago.
After growing tired of the corporate world, Captain Bob bought a
boat and quit his day job. He started exploring Lake Michigan when the
Captain discovered yet another calling.
